What a great compliment to soups, chicken, and more. Your choice of regular buttermilk or a sweeter buttermilk cornbread. Can be made into muffins, used in a cast iron skillet or a baking pan.
Additional Ingredients: Regular Cornbread - 2/3 C Butter, melted, 2/3 C Buttermilk, 1 C Milk, 3 Egg
Directions: Grease 9x13 pan, Combine the dry mix with the liquid ingredients, mix well, add the melted shortening and continue to stir. Pour into 9x13 pan and bake at 400 degrees for 22 to 27 minutes.
Dry ingredients in the mix: Flour, Salt, Yellow Corn Meal, Sugar, Baking Powder, Baking Soda
